Change the Outlook Password
When you change the password using Outlook for desktop, it would not change the password for the Email provider. Some Email providers will need you to first visit their website in order to change the credentials. The followings steps should be followed if you are using Outlook Email address.
Login to Microsoft Security Page
The first thing that you need to do is visit the Microsoft security page and then log in. Once you have logged in, click on “Password Security” on the dashboard. Once you are at Security Basics, click on “Change My Password” below Password Security.
Enter a New Password
The page will require you to first enter your current password once again and then enter the new password. Think of a unique password which is difficult for others to guess even if they tried. However, make sure that you are able to remember the new password. The new password needs to be long, strong, a mix of special characters, numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters. You will need to enter the new password twice as required. Then only can you click on the blue save button that appears right at the bottom. Congratulations, you have now successfully changed your Outlook Mail password.
Change Outlook Client Password
The following steps should be followed if you have already changed the password with the Email provider and would like to ensure that the Outlook Email Client is aware of the change. If one is using an Email account besides Outlook, they require the app password.
Open Account Settings for Outlook
Open the Outlook application and choose File which appears on the top menu. Then select Account Settings, followed by Account Settings once again. Then head to Update your password and enter the new password.
Once you have changed the Outlook Mail password, simply close any of the extra menus that are open. In order to check if the new password is working perfectly, click on the Send/Receive button. If the Emails continue to arrive, it means that the password has been successfully changed/ updated. Otherwise, you would get an error message which would require you to enter the correct password.
